Cannot Select Neurobit Optima Device Within EEGer

When configuring EEGer for a Neurobit Optima device, it’s possible for it to not appear as a selectable device from the dropdown menu. There are two reasons this may be happening:

  1. The installed EEGer version is from before support was added for the Neurobit Optima. To allow the Optima to be used, the software must be updated to the latest software version.
  2. When upgrading from an older version of EEGer, an option must be checked in the Special menu to allow the Optima to appear as a configurable device. This option is enabled in newer versions of the software, but EEGer refrains from changing the user’s settings when upgrading, requiring it to be turned on manually:

    1. Open EEGer and navigate to Options>EEGer Configuration Options.
    2. Locate the Special tab at the top of the menu.
    3. Check the box for 5 Allow Investigational Devices.
    4. Press Close preferences window at the bottom of the screen, which will save the settings and return to the main screen.
    5. Navigate back to Options>EEGer Configuration Options.
    6. Optima should now be selectable from the Devices tab under 6 Source of EEG/Peripheral data.
    7. Press Close preferences window to return to EEGer's main screen and attempt to run a session.
