‘No REMLock Found’ Home Use Error Message

To prevent misuse, protections are built into the software. These protections keep home use files from being installed multiple times and stops them from being installed on multiple computers. This ensures that a home-user is only able to run the number and type of sessions permitted by their supervising clinician.

If EEGer detects a situation that has the possibility of indicating misuse, the dongle will be ‘locked’ to prevent unauthorized training. As a consequence of these protections, there are situations where the dongle can be locked where misuse is not intended. This is what the ‘No REMLock Found’ message indicates to the user.

The most common cause of this message is a home-use license moving to a new computer. This can happen if a home-user has to change or upgrade computers, but also if a dongle is returned to a clinician and subsequently rented/loaned to a new home-user for use on their own personal computer.

In these cases, the supervising clinician will need to contact EEG Store to ‘unlock’ the dongle. A special keyfile will be created that, once installed onto the home-use system, will correct the issue.

When contacting EEG Store, please be sure to provide the following information:

  • Home Use dongle number.
  • Clinical dongle number.
  • A brief description of the situation or events that caused the message to appear.
