Session File Appearing Out of Order or Not Saving

A sorting issue can cause new sessions to appear out of order when reviewing or replaying a session within EEGer. This can be observed for sessions recorded after the date of February 24th, 2023.

Are My Session Files Alright?

The actual files and their contents are unaffected, and are being saved to the computer like normal. A cosmetic issue is causing the files to appear out of order, but once a file is selected for replay or review it can be used like any other EEGer file.

How do I Correct This Issue?

The EEGer development team has released a program to help correct the issue and to fix any sessions that are showing up out of order. This process should only take a few minutes to complete.

  1. EEGer must be closed for the patch to be applied correctly. If EEGer is currently running, close it.

  2. Navigate to the EEGer Support site and download the latest version of Fixers from the top of the downloads page.
Download Page Link | Direct Download Link

Note: If you are using Microsoft Edge, you may need to select ‘Keep Anyway’ to finish the download, see this KBA for instructions.

  3. Once the download is complete, run the fixer.exe program. Once it is open, click Extract to begin applying the process.

  4. After a moment, a console window should appear. This will log the actions being performed and report any problems that the program encounters.

    • If you receive an error message, close the window by pressing Enter and make sure that EEGer is not open. Once EEGer is closed, try running fixer.exe again.

    • When completed, press Enter to close the window.

  5. Now that the patch has been applied, open EEGer to verify the fix. Sessions should now be appearing in the correct order, and any new live session will also appear in the correct order.

If you experience issues with this process, please contact us.

Note: If you still encounter issues with sessions appearing mixed up or out of order, check to make sure you have the latest version installed. There have been new versions of the program released in quick succession as we have received feedback from users. Once you have the latest version installed, you will need to run part of the program manually. This can be done by navigating to C://EEGer on the computer and running the program eegnamefix.exe from within EEGer’s main folder.

How Do I Find My Session Files?

If you have not yet installed the patches, any session recorded after February 24th will appear out of order.

On most screens where this issue is present, you can use the session date and time to identify the correct session. Sessions recorded after 2023-02-24 should begin appearing at the top of the list in chronological order, meaning that there should not be scrolling needed to locate them.

Review Screen: Tabular Session View

When using the Review Screen, it may be difficult to find the latest sessions if using the graph history view. To help find the correct session to view, we recommend using the Tabular option to view recorded sessions in a list format.

Review Screen: Uncheck ‘Last 25’

In a similar way, the new sessions may not appear if the Last 25 option is checked. This is because the new sessions are being placed at the top of the list, but this button makes it so EEGer only shows the sessions at the bottom of the list. Unchecking this option should help locate the new sessions quicker and without scrolling.
